Rabbit Breeds
Dutch

The Dutch is a very popular breed due to its striking patterns and small size, as they only weigh around 4.5-5lbs. The Dutch comes in a range of colours including black, steel, chocolate, yellow, blue and tortoiseshell. The rabbit pictured is a steel, determined by the flecks of grey and brown hairs mixed with black hairs.
LionHead

The Lionhead is so called because of its characterist longhair around its head which resemebles the mane of a male lion. The lionhead is a popular breed and comes in a wide variety of colours and patterns. Many lionheads are crossbreeds making it difficult to predict what size they grow to, however they are generally a small-medium sized rabbit. The pure bred lionhead is around 3.5 lbs.
Lop

There are many kinds of lop earred rabbits, ranging from the large English and French Lops to the much smaller Mini/Holland and cashmere Lops. Most lops which aren't bred for show however are crossbreds and may not fall into a particular breed. So if your new bun is a baby lop, be sure you know what size they are likely to end up or you could end up with one very big bun!
Rex

The rex is indentified for its extra fine and soft fur and 'hare like' features. The standard rex is significantly larger than the mini rex, and being a large breed is more prone to heart problems. However, both breeds are prone to sore hocks due to their fine fur, so must be housed on soft bedding which will not cause irritation. The rex comes in a variety of colours.
